Sandii Castleberry will perform her "Roots of American Music" show. Idyllwild musicians Sandii Castleberry and Paul Carman take their audience on a musical tour through America, learning about the multicultural origins of songs and instruments in their show. Audiences will travel east to west and south to the Appalachia mountains, cross the Western Plains to California, then head down to New Orleans to learn all the ingredients that make up a "jazz soup." Sandii demonstrates and performs on the banjo, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, washboard, spoons, and limber jack. Paul plays bass, saxophone, flute, clarinet, and djembe. Their show concludes by inviting members to join them in the art of collective improvisation, the founding principle of jazz. Sandii and Paul will them perform a short set that includes blues to bluegrass, and folk to jazz.
