Tres Vidas: Core Ensenble will perform new chamber music theater work celebrating the lives of three significant Latin and SOuth American Women. Tres Vidas celebrates the life, times and work of painter Frida Kahlo of Mexico, peasant activist Rufina Amaya o El Salvador an dpoet Alfonsina Storni of Argentina. The story lines include Frida Kahlo's dramatic and passionate relationship with painter Diego Rivera, Rufina Amaya's astounding sole survival of the massacre at El Mozote and Alfonsina Storni's lifelong challenges as Argentina's first great feminist poet. Tres Vidas offers dramatic situations, timeless in their emotional appeal, and a connection to audiences across all gender and ethnic spectrums. Text is by Majorie Agosin. Music includes popular and folk songs from Mexico, El Salvador and Argentian. Vocal and instrumental music by Astor Piazolla, Carlos Gardel and Ovaldo Golijov.
